ALD specialist

Chipmetrics offers unique >>100 aspect ratio and small line-width silicon test structures on chips and on wafers for the semiconductor industry. Our main focus is on semiconductor tool qualification, particularly focusing on ALD films, enabling high speed and high accuracy for inspection – after maintenance, during process tuning, for tool acceptance and for tool evaluation tests. The company also offers measurement services and solutions.

While this may sound a bit technical and niche, the huge semiconductor field offers plenty of opportunities. We already have a very interesting customer base with large industry players that offer a great basis for future sales. The company has an ambitious growth plan and we are now looking for a

ALD specialist

to support our customers’ ALD research and the use of our technology in the academia.
The ALD Specialist will be responsible for testing chips, elements and structures, monitoring wafers, and supporting ALD/CVD process development.

The responsibilities include

Coordination of our own ALD research activities and implementation of research projects

  • Planning of new application areas of our technology and performing analysis to create
  • proof-of-concept materials for our customers
  • Support for our test chip and wafer solutions development
  • Presentations, posters and other participation in industry events
  • Technical support for our Customer Engagement and Sales teams

Qualifications that will help you succeed in the position:

  • Must have hands-on experience with Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) in an industrial or
  • research setting. Applications without ALD experience will not be considered.
  • Proven ability to develop physical or numerical film growth models, and/or understanding
  • film formation mechanisms, specifically in ALD/CVD
  • Practical experience in industrial thin film applications
  • Knowledge of wafer testing and monitoring techniques
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data interpretation
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Materials Sciences, Engineering or related field

This is a full-time on-site role with international travel and flexibility for some remote work. The location options for this position are Joensuu and Espoo in Finland and Dresden, Germany.
