Chipmetrics Strengthens Its Presence in Japan and East Asia to Support Advanced Semiconductor Development

To better serve one of its core markets, CEO Mikko Utriainen relocates to Japan’s capital.

Tokyo, Japan – October 13, 2025 – Chipmetrics, a leading provider of advanced metrology solutions for the semiconductor industry, is strengthening its presence in Japan as part of its broader strategy to support customers across East Asia. To lead this effort, Co-founder and CEO, Mikko Utriainen has relocated to Tokyo.

The Tokyo base underscores the company’s commitment to enabling next-generation semiconductor innovation in key markets for advanced logic and memory manufacturing. From this new base, he will focus on deepening collaboration with Japanese clients and partners, ensuring that Chipmetrics’ metrology solutions are closely aligned with the needs of local manufacturers and research institutions.

“Japan is home to some of the world’s most advanced semiconductor logic and memory development. By establishing a stronger local presence, we aim to better support our clients and contribute to their ongoing technology leadership,” said Mikko Utriainen, CEO of Chipmetrics.

Chipmetrics is proud to be a member of the JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) IBSC incubator program in Tokyo, designed to support foreign technology companies in establishing a business presence in Japan. Through this program, Chipmetrics is eligible to use JETRO’s office facilities and benefit from expert consultancy and local market support.

“We are grateful for JETRO’s invaluable assistance. Their consultancy support and office space access have been instrumental in helping us build our presence in Japan, and we look forward to continued collaboration as we strengthen our activities here,” added Utriainen.

This expansion also reinforces Chipmetrics’ commitment to East Asia more broadly, with South Korea identified as another strategic focus market. The country’s global leadership in DRAM and NAND development, where Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) plays a critical role in device scaling and performance, aligns closely with Chipmetrics’ expertise in thin film metrology and process control.

The strengthened regional presence marks a significant step in Chipmetrics’ international growth strategy, enhancing its ability to provide responsive customer support and foster deeper technical partnerships across Asia.
