Development Engineer

 

Chipmetrics is seeking a highly adaptable engineer to enhance our team in Joensuu. This role involves designing and developing theoretical models of light interaction in patterned nanometric structures and thin films, collaborating within a diverse team of engineers, researchers, and business associates. The development engineer will also engage in sales support and other business-related activities.

Tasks

  • Utilize various metrology tools within a cleanroom environment.
  • Contribute to the development of products and services.
  • Assist in the quality control process and support sales and business units. This position may require travel.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Sciences, Materials Sciences, Physics, or in a related field.
  • Strong interest in deep tech and semiconductor business with aspirations to advance to higher roles within the sector.
  • Positive attitude and a strong capacity to learn new skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of other languages such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, or French is a plus.

Useful Skills

  • Experience in reflectometry, ellipsometry, optical profilometry, or electron microscopy.
  • Familiarity with metrology systems used in the semiconductor industry, such as ellipsometry, profilometry, SEM, TEM, etc.
  • Proficiency in data analysis with experience in Python, C/C++, or Arduino, including the ability to understand, modify, and execute existing code.
  • A good understanding of mathematical and optical simulation methods and electronics, potentially gained through hobbies or work projects.
